Who we are

Bushbuck Lodge is a self-catering guest lodge at 10 Tavistock Road, Southbroom, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. If you have any questions about your information, contact us on 069 603 5309 or bushbuck-lodge@duncanpeach.com.

What we collect

We only collect the details you give us when you get in touch to enquire about or make a booking. This is typically:

• Your name
• Your phone number and email address
• Your stay details, such as dates, number of guests and any special requests
• Any messages you send us by phone, WhatsApp or email

If you complete our guest registration and indemnity form on arrival, we also collect:

• Your ID or passport number
• An emergency contact name and number
• Your signature and the date you signed

We do not take payments or store card details on this website, and we do not use tracking cookies or advertising trackers.

Why we collect it

We use your information only to:

• Respond to your enquiry and arrange your stay
• Contact you about your booking before, during or after your visit
• Arrange extras you ask for, such as airport transport
• Keep basic records of past stays
• Keep a record that you were made aware of the property's known risks (pool, braai, trail, stairs/decks and falling fruit), and reach your emergency contact if we ever genuinely need to

We do not sell, rent or share your information for marketing, and we will not pass it to third parties except where we genuinely need to (for example, arranging a transfer you have requested) or where the law requires it.

How we store it

Your details are kept in our own phone, email and booking records, protected by passwords and device security. General enquiry and booking details are kept only for as long as we need them to manage your stay and our records, and then deleted. Signed guest registration and indemnity records are kept for a minimum of 3 years from your stay (the general legal time limit for this type of claim in South Africa), or longer where a guest was under 18 at the time of the stay, since that time limit only starts running once they turn 18.

Exterior security cameras

For the safety of our guests, staff and property, Bushbuck Lodge uses exterior security cameras in selected outdoor and shared access areas. Footage is only viewed when needed for safety, security or to look into an incident. If you have any questions, please contact us using the details on this website.

Your rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Just contact us using the details above and we will help.
